The immediate welcome I got from the San Giljan community was a hospitable and encouraging one. The love for the sport is nurtured and celebrated. Women’s waterpolo has come a long way since I was introduced to it around 10 years ago – but it has a long way to go if our goal is to reach international recognition. From a more personal point of view, the pool has been my way to release stress. -The bond you build with your teammates is one of the most rewarding ones. You spend so many hours together training, rain or shine. You lose, and you win together, you celebrate each other and build each other up. That’s the beauty of a team sport – you gain more than you give.

To have to change club after 7 years is not easy, however, San Giljan committee and players showed me how much they want to invest in women’s waterpolo and also give priority to encourage young girls to start playing waterpolo too. Personally, this was the top factor which made me make my whole decision as I truly believe that women’s waterpolo should finally get the investment and priority it deserves. I believe that the season coming, and the years after, will be the best of my career and I’m very excited to crush whatever is ahead as a San Giljan player.
