San Giljan ASC Under 15 Winter League winners

A great day for the boys and indeed for the whole Club which had been chasing a junior title for quite a while after the revamp of the junior sector 3 years ago. This sector has gone quite a long way and intends building on this success to be among the protagonists in local waterpolo.

Ironically, today the round robin tournament did not start too well as San Giljan lost the match against Sliema which the boys last by one goal. However. the signs were already very encouraging as the team had managed to fight back from a three goal disadvantage and only some fine saves by Sliema goaler Zach Sciberras stopped San Giljan from winning this game too. Previously Sliema had lost against Sirems by one goal.

In fact, the boys managed to beat Sirens comprehensively by five goals (8-3) and this was enough to win the decider round robin tournament on goal average.

All the boys and their coaches Kurt Dowling. Dean Camilleri and Club Head Coach Karl Izzo are highly praiseworthy for this success which witnesses the sterling work that was done in the last three years.

Well done to all! However this success has to be seen as a starting point and should encourage the boys to train even harder as soon as the Christmas recess is over.
