San Giljan started their commitments in the BOV National League with an emphatic win over Ta’ Xbiex. The final score read 24-9. This match also marked the debut of Boris Letica while Nikola Sutic was making his return after last year’s experience. Both were prominent with their scoring sprees (Sutic scored ten!) as well as their all round play. Head Coach Karl Izzo made use of all his bench. Goalkeeper David Abela played in the final two sessions of the match as also he was making his official debut for San Giljan since joining from Sliema.
It is worth noting that Ta’ Xbiex included three San Giljan youngsters Anthony Bugeja, Keith Galea and Andreas Galea who joined Ta’ Xbiex on a shared athlete basis. Their positive performance proved the worth of this move.
In the next preliminary round fixture San Giljan meet Exiles. The match is scheduled for this Wednesday 13th June at 18.45.
