In the match for sole third position it was Sliema who bagged all three points of the match, as they beat San Giljan, for the second time this season, with the same scoreline. It was a match replete with man ups, as Sliema converted eight from twelve, and the Saints had a total of fifteen occasions, also netting eight times. Sliema fi8nished the match with four players, all out on fouls, Soler, Meli, Brownrigg and Attard, whilst San Giljan had Dowling and Bianchi also ending early.

The match began with Alex Radovic smashing a penalty throw against the crossbar for San Giljan. Sliema opened the scoring, but then suffered two San Giljan strikes, one opf them from another penalty, this time scored by Zelyko Kovacic, only for Antonio Petrovic to take Sliema to an even score. In the second period Sliema twice went into a double advantage, with the Saints pulling a goal back on the two occasions, but a Petrovic penaly had Sliema leading 6-4 at the interval.

After the break  another penalty by Kovacictook the Saints nearer, but Sliema held out, and then scored twice, to obtain a better advantage against the Saints, leading 8-5, going into the last quarter. The game took another turn, with San Giljan converting three man ups in succession, to draw level. Sliema werer agin ahead, only for teh Saints to tie the score yet again, always on man ups. It was left to the Sliema captain, John Soler, to obtain the winning goal, although there was ample time left for both sides to increase their score., but both of them missed their next man ups, with Sliema holding grimly on to their slight lead, as they became Neltunes’ main challengers, though they have a five point deficit to make up.

Both Sliema’s Petkovic, and San Giljan’s Kovacic, scored four goals for their side.
