After the draw against Muri Antichi, this morning San Giljan beat Acicastello 14-13 in a very tight match. This evening the team was involved in another tight match as it was beaten by A1 side Ortigia Siracusa by the slightest of margins as Ortigia won 11-10 to win the “Memorial Gianluca Veneziano”. San Giljan Giuseppe’s obtained a prestigious second place.
In a brief comment given soon after the game by Club President Dr.Aquilina who is accompanying the team in Siracusa, he praised the very positive attitude displayed by the team as well as the fighting spirit shown by all players. Dr. Aquilina added that he is proud of the team’s performance in such a high level tournament.
The team headed by Head Coach Karl Izzo will be staying in Siracusa till Sunday for an intensive training camp with host club Ortigia Siracusa.
