This morning the Junior team travelled to Gozo for a double fixture. The Under 17’s played first as they beat Otters 17-1. Once again Coach Rath rotated all his squad as the boys were absolutely tight in defence and always willing to create an occasion out of every possession.
The Under 20 match was a closer game as Otters took an early advantage. San Giljan although playing without any foreigners did not give in and gradually started showing the same strong points shown in the first game which enabled our boys to turn the result and end up on the winning side. At the end of the match Head Coach Karl Izzo expressed his satisfaction for the performance of all the boys and praised their commitment as many of the boys who played and won the Under 20 game had just played the Under 17 match.
Next Junior fixture is on Monday 20th August as the Under 15’s play home with the ASA Ladies Selection at 17.00. This match will be followed by a friendly match in which the Under 17’s will face a guest Dutch youth team which is carrying out a training camp on the island.
