San Giljan moved closer to winning the winter league for the first time since 1995 when they roundly defeated Neptunes Grimaldi 15-8 in a one sided encounter. After a five-goal burst in the first session, Neptunes attempted a comeback in the second session but San Giljan remained ahead comfortably and upped the tempo again in the final quarter to keep up their 100 per cent record. A draw against Sliema would now be enough for the Saints to win the winter league. San Giljan ASC opened up a sizeable advantage in the first session, winning it 5-1. Matthew Zammit opened the score with Timmy Agius making it 1-1 but Zammit and Clint Mercieca divided four goals between them without reply. Neptunes went closer to their adversaries in the second session, scoring three goals through Niki Lanzon and Jeremy Abela but Paul Fava and Dino Zammit restored a two-goal advantage at the interval after Jordan Camilleri made it 5-7. However the fourth session saw San Giljan trounce Neptunes 5-1 again with Peter Borg, Matthew Zammit, Mercieca, Dino Zammit and Cousin again getting on the scoresheet for a final score of 15-8 in their favour.
