San Giljan beat Neptunes: From the Papers

San Giljan 9
Neptunes 5
(0-1, 2-3, 3-1, 4-0)

As the BOV Winter League resumed yesterday, San Ġiljan produced their best so far in this pre-season competition when emerging worth winners against Neptunes.

Saints stun neighbours

It was a success engineered by solid teamwork which helped the Saints shut the door at the back and which was also spearheaded by scoring ace Matthew Zammit.

For the Reds, this was their first defeat and more than that the adverse scoreline may have dented their confidence.

Neptunes started briskly and were seemingly in control until the first two sessions. However, San Ġiljan came back admirably with Dean Camilleri in goal inspiring his team with a series of fine saves.

They drew level and in the final quarter a crucial turning on 6-5 helped the Saints grab the baton solidly until they crossed the finishing line to leave their oppo-nents puffing and panting.
