A memorable win for San Giljan ASC. The Saints covered themselves in glory, winning the 11th league for the Club as we remained unbeaten throughout.
San Giljan managed to beat arch-rivals and neighbours Neptunes in the Premier League Title.
San Giljan once again proved to have the best squad of local players. This year’s season teams played without foreigners following the COVID-19 outbreak. The latter disrupted the plans of all clubs however ultimately it did not stop the Saints from winning the biggest prize. Throughout the whole season the team won almost all matches handsomely, showing fighting spirit and desire to win!
Winning game after game brought confidence to the team, keeping the best performances to when it mattered most, namely in the final stages of the league.
This enabled San Giljan to be crowned BOV Water Polo Premier League Champions for 2020. In the best-of-three playoff final, San Giljan beat Neptunes WPSC 9-8 in a very close encounter, following their 11-5 win in game 1 to clinch this year’s title. San Giljan were crowned champions after beating outgoing champions Neptunes in a pulsating second leg of the final.
There is no doubt that San Giljan were worthy winners of the double after winning all their matches throughout the season.
