Thank You Paul Fava!

The Knock Out final played on Sunday 18th October 2020 was Paul Fava‘s last game which crowned a fantastic career. Paul finished on a high winning the Double with San Giljan ASC.🏆🏆

Paul joined San Giljan in 2008, after having previously played with Sliema, Marsascala and Sirens. Undoubtedly, Paul’s career will remain characterized by the years he played for San Giljan. Paul joined the Club when San Giljan were striving to establish their place in the Premier Division, which back in 2008 consisted only of four teams. Paul’s signing from Sirens was a game changer, as it spoke volumes about the Club’s ambition to regain a top club status in local waterpolo.

Sure enough, Paul Fava was one of the stalwarts in this successful era, as San Giljan ASC established itself in the local waterpolo scene with a series of successes and records.

With Paul Fava at the forefront, San Giljan won three Premier Division Championships, five Knock Out competitions, three Winter Leagues, three President’s Cup and two Enemed Cups. Paul was also part of the team which was voted SportsMaltaTeam of the Year in 2017, while the team also achieved the Unbeaten record of 54 consecutive games in the higher division in that same year 🇧🇪

Paul was a leader by example and his experience was useful both to the team and his team mates, most of whom are young and definitely found Paul’s presence in the team both inspiring and reassuring.

Paul, known for his strong defensive skills also scored some memorable goals in decisive games for the Saints. He also had the honour to play with some great foreign players who played for San Giljan during his years with the Club.

Paul will remain in the hearts of all Giljanizi, even though he opted to call it a day. His example and loyalty will keep on shining for the years to come and will continue to be an inspiration to all senior and junior players – who pursue to be what Paul was, and will always be, for us Giljanizi.

Thank you Paul and Good Luck!

🖤💛❤
